On Which We Stand

SeaOtter_000.JPG Originally, the world was composed of two elements only: the sea and the sky. The vast body of water flourished with life, yet felt somewhat empty. One day, a group of amiable creatures, the sea otters, wished to make more friends. Thus they worked day and night pulling up an immense block of earth. The otters were well known for their unusual imagination and intelligence; the huge landmass drifted afloat after the otters detached it from the sea floor.

After many suns and moons, human beings appeared on Earth’s surface. Appreciating the beautiful nature the sea otters has given them, the people respected the sea otters and became their best companions. That was, until the strange clan with white skin arrived on the shores. One must admit this group provided some bizarre instruments - shiny cutters and roaring twigs that shot metals. The pale people, of course, wished for some specific material in return for these fascinating tools.

The sea otters remained clueless while they were clubbed and skinned. They never got to witness people, the people they had helped create, receive coins in exchange for otter fur.
